Supporting young people in Quang Tri to start businesses through e-commerce

On the morning of June 5th in Quang Tri, the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development (Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade) - eComDX, in collaboration with the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Tri province, organized a training conference on "Applying E-commerce for Youth Entrepreneurship".

The event attracted the attention of many young people in the province, creating opportunities for them to access advanced e-commerce tools, thereby exploring their potential and improving the effectiveness of brand building and business development in the digital age.

E-commerce startups: opportunities and challenges in the digital age

In his opening remarks at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Tri province, emphasized that in the context of the increasingly developing digital economy, young entrepreneurs need to quickly access and master advanced forms of e-commerce to avoid falling behind. The goal of the conference is to open up great opportunities for young people in Quang Tri province, equipping them with the necessary skills to maximize the use of e-commerce platforms, thereby building brands and promoting products effectively.

Online platforms like Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop not only help businesses easily access the domestic market but also expand opportunities to reach international markets. However, the path to starting a business in e-commerce is not without challenges. One of the biggest difficulties is the fierce competition from "giants" who have been in the market for a long time, such as TikTok Shop, Shopee, Lazada, and Amazon.

In addition, infrastructure issues such as payment systems, warehousing, transportation, packaging, and customs procedures remain major obstacles for startups. However, the biggest challenge for startups is the lack of creative thinking and the ability to find a unique selling proposition. Success depends not only on product quality but also on the ability to creatively design sales applications, advertising campaigns, marketing, and customer service.

Therefore, young entrepreneurs need to find creative and sustainable solutions to attract and retain users, turning potential customers into loyal customers. Only with innovative thinking and the right development strategy can startups overcome challenges and achieve success in the digital economy.

Agreeing with the above viewpoint, Mr. Vu Minh Ngoc, representative of the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade) - eComDX, also shared about the potential and challenges of e-commerce in Vietnam.

Mr. Vu Minh Ngoc stated that e-commerce is no longer a new trend, but has become a crucial factor helping businesses develop and integrate into the global digital economy. Although precise figures are not yet available, it can be seen that the number of e-commerce startups in Vietnam is still quite low compared to the industry's strong growth potential. Promoting and creating a favorable environment for young businesses in this field to develop is essential. Only with the right support and a sustainable development strategy can e-commerce become one of the important pillars of the digital economy, while contributing to creating a dynamic and healthy competitive market.

The booming e-commerce market presents significant potential, creating numerous opportunities for Vietnamese startups. Furthermore, starting a business in e-commerce aligns with the government's policy of promoting the digital economy. The legal framework for e-commerce is increasingly完善; startups are encouraged and provided with favorable conditions and a transparent mechanism for development; and there is support from the national innovative startup ecosystem. On the other hand, Vietnam's e-commerce market is still relatively young compared to the rest of the world, leaving ample room for growth for Vietnamese startups.

Mr. Ngoc particularly emphasized that the combination of e-commerce and artificial intelligence (AI) will be a crucial tool to help businesses optimize sales processes and improve customer experience. "AI is not just a support tool, but also a key to optimizing marketing strategies, analyzing data, and creating effective advertising campaigns. This is especially important for young startups, helping them grow rapidly and compete in the market," Mr. Ngoc shared.

Artificial intelligence: The key for young entrepreneurs to maximize the potential of technology.

Artificial intelligence (AI) today is not just a technological trend, but has become an essential part of daily life and work. Powerful and modern AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot… are opening up many great opportunities in fields such as content creation, data analysis, and customer service. Effectively applying these tools will help young entrepreneurs not only save time but also increase work efficiency.

To effectively apply these AI tools, Mr. Cao Qui Long, an expert from the eComDX Center, shared practical tips on applying AI to e-commerce activities. Mr. Long emphasized that to maximize the power of AI tools, young entrepreneurs need a clear and specific strategy for each business objective. Whether it's building a brand, promoting products, or improving customer experience, AI tools can be a powerful tool in optimizing processes and creating added value for businesses.

According to Mr. Long, in e-commerce, AI can help businesses automate many processes, from market data analysis and customer segmentation to personalizing marketing campaigns. Currently, platforms like Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop provide startups with readily available AI tools to support product optimization, pricing, and advertising campaigns, thereby enhancing their competitiveness in the market.

Furthermore, Mr. Long also stated that checking and adjusting the results provided by AI is crucial to ensuring maximum efficiency. AI tools do not replace humans, but if used correctly, they will open up previously unattainable opportunities. Therefore, young entrepreneurs' ability to grasp and effectively apply these tools will determine their success in the digital economy.

Beyond the theoretical part, young entrepreneurs in Quang Tri province also received practical guidance on using AI to design images, videos, and audio, as well as synthesizing and extracting information from documents for research, communication, and sales. The trainees practiced writing prompts to create effective online marketing strategies, from designing product images and advertising posts to producing videos for marketing campaigns. Through this, they not only understood the theory but also grasped the practical applications of AI to improve business efficiency.

At the conference, young people in Quang Tri province actively interacted and showed enthusiasm at being equipped with new and useful skills. The Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development (Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade) hopes that these intensive training courses will open up many opportunities for young entrepreneurs in Quang Tri to develop products and build strong brands on e-commerce platforms.

Young people in Quang Tri province enthusiastically interacted and showed great excitement at being equipped with new skills.

The Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development (Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade) will continue to organize beneficial training programs, updating the latest market information and trends to help businesses in Quang Tri and other localities enhance their competitiveness, build strong brands, and achieve sustainable development in the digital economy. In particular, the Go Online solution will be a powerful support tool, helping local businesses quickly access and master online business skills, while simultaneously building a strong digital presence on e-commerce platforms.
