Ms. Lai Viet Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade

Speaking at the press conference, Ms. Lai Viet Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade, stated that in recent years, Southeast Asia has emerged as one of the most dynamic regions globally in terms of cross-border e-commerce and supply chain development. According to statistics, by 2024, the total value of e-commerce transactions in Southeast Asia will exceed US$100 billion. Of this, Vietnam's e-commerce retail revenue will reach US$25 billion. Vietnam is ranked among the countries with the highest e-commerce growth rate in the region, among the top 10 fastest-growing countries in the world, and ranks third in market size (after Indonesia and Thailand) with over 60 million online shoppers.

However, one of the biggest obstacles for consumers when shopping online is the concern about product quality not matching the advertisements. Furthermore, buyers fear receiving substandard goods, counterfeit products, or goods that do not match the images and descriptions online. This reality shows the need for more comprehensive and appropriate solutions to build a transparent and safe business environment, protecting the rights of consumers and reputable businesses in the market.

Sharing their vision for 2025, the leaders of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy stated that Online Friday 2025 will focus on building a comprehensive connected ecosystem with the overarching theme of "Safety - Peace of Mind - Joy".

This year's theme clearly reflects the government's direction in promoting e-commerce as a modern, transparent, reliable, and positive shopping channel. Online Friday aims not only to create a common platform to strengthen trust, protect consumer rights, and reassure them about product quality and online transactions, but also to bring convenience, joy, and excitement throughout the digital shopping journey.

At the same time, the program also aims to strengthen the bond and sustainable partnership between the business community and consumers.

Specifically, the 2025 program will focus on key areas such as: Enhancing the e-commerce and digital technology experience through organizing Vietnam's largest online shopping event and a technology experience space; Building consumer trust by providing practical incentives, promoting electronic payments, and strengthening the prevention and control of counterfeit goods; Supporting businesses in digital transformation, improving technology application capabilities, and promoting local products; and Boosting the promotion, recognition, and consumption of genuine products, while supporting local businesses in exporting online, contributing to overall economic development.

At the press conference, the leaders of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy expressed their hope that media agencies and reporters would continue to cooperate and disseminate information about the Program to a wide range of consumers and businesses in provinces and cities nationwide. They also encouraged increased communication about solutions to combat counterfeit goods; protecting the rights of entities in the e-commerce environment; and publicizing government support policies.

The Department of E-commerce will also continue to support all businesses nationwide to have the opportunity to boost sales, contributing to the development of production and business, and consumers will easily be able to choose goods at good prices that suit their needs.

"Shopping is fun, and shopping is fun" – The new spirit of Online Friday 2025

The Organizing Committee of the program stated that Vietnam Online Friday 2025 is designed with a series of key activities aimed at strengthening market confidence and enhancing brand value in the digital space. At the press conference, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan, Director of the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development - eComDX (Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy - Ministry of Industry and Trade) shared that the slogan "Shopping is fun, shopping is fun" was chosen by the Organizing Committee this year to convey a youthful and approachable spirit, encouraging consumers, especially young people, to enjoy online shopping as an exciting digital culture experience, rather than just a regular shopping activity.

After more than a decade of development, Online Friday 2025 not only continues to affirm its position as a key national e-commerce event, demonstrating the strong commitment of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Government to promoting e-commerce development in a modern, transparent, and reliable direction, but also aims to become a symbol of connection, innovation, and spreading the joy of safe and positive shopping in the digital age. The program is expected to bring online shopping closer to millions of Vietnamese people, contributing to promoting digital consumption and enhancing customer experience.

“We hope consumers will proactively equip themselves with knowledge, choose reputable sellers, thoroughly research product information, and understand their rights to enjoy online shopping intelligently, happily, and with peace of mind. In addition, sellers and businesses participating in the Program will also enhance their responsibility in providing quality products and services, transparent information, and compliance with regulations, thereby building long-term trust and reputation on the digital platform,” Mr. Tuan emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan, Director of the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development - eComDX (Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy - Ministry of Industry and Trade)

The Organizing Committee believes that when consumers, businesses, digital platforms, and stakeholders work together to create a healthy, trustworthy, and inspiring e-commerce environment, Online Friday 2025 will become a special milestone – a place where shopping is not only "convenient" but also "fun".
